Saturday was a learning experience for the Flyers as the team went 1-1 in two games. Dayton dropped its first game against emerging rival University of Cincinnati, but learned that while it has the talent to stage a comeback offensively, no team that earns 15 penalties in a game deserves to win. At one point the Flyers were down three players from simultaneous penalties, but quickly recovered the ball and ran out the man-down period.

After being down two goals at the half, a standout game from goalie Alex Reynolds allowed the Flyers to battle back and tie the game in the fourth quarter with a goal from John Morrow, but the team could not avenge its penalties and the UC Bearcats emerged with the victory 8-6.

The Flyers changed gears against Missouri Baptist, holding the Spartans to one first half goal while showing depth at all positions. The Flyers look to finish the fall season on a high note Oct. 25 against Louisville during UD's Family Weekend.

With a talented new class of freshmen, the Dayton Flyers are hoping to fill some key positions. After a home opening blowout against John Carroll and a successful tournament in St. Louis, the Flyers took on Ohio State at home winning 13-7.

After the game against the Buckeyes, Captain Zach Burke had these words to say: "We look good, we really do. With our talent and numbers, we should be able to make a good run for a CCLA Championship and perhaps a final victory in Denver." With some stellar play from freshmen such as Attackman Christian Furbay and Defenseman Matt Dowd, the Flyers look to improve upon last year's success.

The Flyers will take on the Missouri Baptist Spartans and the Cincinnati Bearcats at home this weekend, looking to get their 6th and 7th wins of the fall season.

The Flyers fell short again in the semi-final game in Nationals against #1 seed Westminster. The Westminster Griffins proved to be too much to handle for the Dayton Flyers. The Flyers, after notching the first goal of the game scored by midfielder Alex Urban, came out flat and trailed early in the game. The Flyer defense was no match for the Griffins in the first half. The Griffin’s attack took control of the game not only offensively but defensively by securely riding the Flyers during clearing situations.

Dayton goalie Brian Eisenhardt struggled to find his open teammates due to the heavy riding Westminster inflicted on the Flyers.

Trailing 9-1 at halftime, the Flyers did not give up hope. Stellar second half play from the defense kept the Flyers alive allowing only 1 goal occurring in the fourth quarter. This allowed the Flyers to mount a comeback. They scored 5 goals in the second half, but in the end fell short to a tough Westminster team 10-6.

“We are going to make some changes,” Dayton coach Charlie Mark said. “We only lost five seniors, we are coming back with 50 guys. We are coming back here next year.”

The Dayton Flyers stunned in-state rival Miami (OH) 19-10 in a thriller Friday at Miami Valley High School. The Flyers were playing at MVHS as a promotional effort supporting the formation of a new lacrosse program at the school. The game brought out a large crowd, largely Flyer fans.

The Flyers started strong going up 7-2 after one. The Redhawks tallied 4 goals in the 2nd quarter, however they still trailed at half 13-6. Strong play from senior attackman Chris Jehling (7G, 2A) and junior midfielder Alex Urban (3G, 2A) helped lead the Flyers. Dayton's run and gun offense proved too much for Miami in the end and the Flyers came out victorious going to 2-0 against Miami on the season.

A hard fought game against conference rival Taylor ended in a home win for the Flyers by the score of 18-8. Led by midfielders Ryan Arling and Kevin Bell, each with 6 and 5 points respectively, the Flyers rolled. However, Taylor did not sit down and stayed with the Flyers during the first half due to poor defensive breakdowns on fast-breaks.

The second half however wall all Dayton as the home team rolled towards its 7th win of the season.

The Dayton Flyers avenged their 2007 MCLA Division II semi-final playoff loss in a hard fought 15-9 shootout over a deep and talented SJU team.

Both teams came out firing on all cylinders and despite a pair of three minute stick penalties against Dayton in the first half, the Flyers defense was able to hold on - leading to an even six to six score at the half. Senior captain Chris Jehling proved once again why he is considered one of the nation’s top attackmen, with a five goal / two assist effort against a relentless SJU defense. Senior goalie Brian Eisenhardt came up big for the Flyers, making a number of key point-blank stops to hold SJU to only three goals in the second half. Steven Hurst also did a tremendous job on the defensive end, containing SJU standout attackman Brian Strauss to zero goals and three assists on the day.
